Spring 2020 Information

SEVIS Check-In

Upon arrival to Vanderbilt, all incoming international students (including students returning from a leave of absence) must complete a mandatory SEVIS check-in with ISSS. This process collects copies of your F-1 or J-1 status documents and the information ISSS needs to report your arrival in SEVIS. Check-in is mandatory. You must also check-in before you will be able to apply for a driver’s license or social security number.

Check-in sessions for incoming spring students will be held in Wilson 120 at the following times:

• Thursday, January 2nd, 2020: 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
• Friday, January 3rd, 2020: 2:45 p. m. – 4:30 p. m.

Status and Employment Sessions

All incoming international students who are attending Vanderbilt for the first time must attend a session on status and employment. This session will cover important information about maintaining your F or J status, as well as information on employment eligibility.

This session will be offered twice; students must attend one session. The session will be offered in Sarratt 189 at the following times:

• Monday, January 2nd, 2020: 5 p. m. – 7:30 p. m. (Dinner provided)
• Friday, January 17th, 2020: 5 p. m. – 7:30 p. m. (Light refreshments provided)

Welcome Breakfast

New students are welcome to attend a breakfast with ISSS on January 3rd. This is an opportunity to meet ISSS staff, ask questions, and get some food! Breakfast will be available in the Sarratt Student Center, room 189 at 8 a. m.
