Unassigned Student Application

Any student who registered for housing and remains unassigned upon completion of the various random selection processes and plans to return to Vanderbilt for the fall 2025 semester MUST submit the Unassigned Student Application.  In addition to available vacancies in suites/apartments, single rooms, double rooms, and full apartments that come available due to housing cancellations from students who selected rooms but will not return to Vanderbilt will be assigned to students.  Specific room types and building locations are not guaranteed; however, students can indicate preferences and make roommate requests on their application.  Every effort is made to place students in their preferred type housing, with requested roommates, pending space availability.

The Unassigned Student Application will be available in the Housing Portal beginning March 17, 2025 at 8 a.m. CDT and must be submitted by March 21 at 6 p.m. CDT.  Late applications will not be accepted.  Students who submit an Unassigned Student Application will not receive their housing assignments until July 31, 2025.  Eligible students who fail to submit their application will not be provided with on-campus housing.

All students who submit an Unassigned Student Application by the March 21 deadline are guaranteed an on-campus housing assignment.  Under no circumstances should students commit themselves to an off-campus property without first receiving written authorization from the Director of Housing Assignments and Operations.  Housing Assignments understands it can be stressful to not receive a housing assignment until late July; however, the longer we wait for housing cancellations to be submitted from students who selected rooms but will not be returning, the greater the likelihood of students receiving their preferred housing type/location.
