Double Room Process
Double Room Process (Begins April 9, 2022)
All unassigned, continuing upper-division students are eligible to participate in the double room process. Double rooms are available in Blakemore, Branscomb (Lupton, Scales, Stapleton, and Vaughn (female)), Tolman (male), and the residential colleges.
Double Room Application:
Any student interested in participating in the Double Room Process must complete the Double Room Application in the Housing Portal between April 9 at 12 a.m. CDT and April 11, 2022 at 6 p.m. CDT.
Double Room Roommate/Hallmate Groups:
All students participating in the Double Room Process must form a roommate group of two (2) or four (4) students of the same gender. In order to be eligible to select suite doubles in Scales and Vaughn, students must form a group of four (4) students.
Forming a roommate/hallmate group will run concurrently with the Double Room Application. In order to form a roommate/hallmate group, all students must first submit their Double Room Application. Roommate/hallmate groups can be formed between April 9 at 12 a.m. CDT and April 11, 2022 at 6 p.m. CDT.
How to Form a Roommate/Hallmate Group:
- Log into the Housing Portal.
- Click on “Roommate Selection”.
- Click “Select Roommates”.
- Select “Fall 2022” as the term from the dropdown menu.
- If any other student/s have already requested you as a roommate/hallmate, the requests will show under “Pending Roommate Requests”. To accept requests, click on the three dots to the left of their name and select the “Match” icon.
- To request a student, click on “Search for Roommate”. Students are encouraged to search by VUnetID.
- Confirm that all members of your roommate/hallmate group accept/request the student/s they would like in their group under “Roommate Requests.”
Failure of one (1) or more students to accept all roommates will result in the group being ineligible for the consideration in the random selection process.
IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED A FULLY MATCHED ROOMMATE/HALLMATE GROUP, ALL MEMBERS OF THE GROUP MUST EITHER REQUEST ONE ANOTHER OR ACCEPT ANY PENDING REQUESTS FROM OTHER GROUP MEMBERS. NO EMAILS OR COMMUNICATION REGARDING ROOMMATES/HALLMATES WILL BE SENT TO STUDENTS FROM THE OFFICE OF HOUSING ASSIGNMENTS. STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING WITH ONE ANOTHER TO ENSURE GROUPS ARE PROPERLY FORMED. UNMATCHED ROOMMATE/HALLMATE GROUPS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED IN DOUBLE ROOM RANDOM SELECTION PROCESS.
Double Room Random Selection and Results:
Utilizing a seniority driven, random selection taking the point average of all groups, fully matched groups of two (2) and four (4) students will be considered in the random selection. Successful groups will be assigned a room selection date and time. Groups with higher point averages will be assigned earlier room selection times. Ties in point average will be broken via random selection.
Successful groups of four (4) students will select two (2) double rooms during room selection.
Results will be announced via email on April 12 at 6 p.m. CDT.
Double Room Selection:
Room selection will take place online in the Housing Portal on April 13, 2022. Successful groups with selection times will be able to log into the online room selection fifteen (15) minutes prior to the start of the room selection event in order to review the available spaces. Room selections cannot be made until the group scheduled selection time. Please designate one (1) member of the group to complete the online room selection. Groups are welcome to select any available space. Groups of four (4) must select two (2) rooms. Groups of two (2) must select one (1) room. Once you submit your room selection, changes are not permitted and your selected space will be your assignment for the 2022-2023 academic year. If groups do not make a room selection, the Office of Housing Assignments will complete the room selection on their behalf.
