Roommate Assistance

Vanderbilt offers a variety of different housing options for upper-division students; however, a large portion are designated as group living (two or more students). Students are responsible for forming their own roommate groups in each respective process. While traditional single rooms are available, a majority tend to be selected by rising 3rd– and 4th-year students who have higher priority in the housing assignment process. Rising 2nd– year students are strongly encouraged to identify one or more potential roommates as they are unlikely to secure single rooms in the process.

Housing and Residential Experience recognizes that students may need assistance in identifying a roommate. Any student who needs assistance should submit the Roommate Assistance Survey located under the Applications menu in the Housing Portal between January 15 and February 15 at 6 p.m. CST.  A staff member will facilitate connections between students with similar responses where students will be encouraged to meet either in person, virtually, or by phone in order to discuss the possibility of living together.
