In order to submit your application, please log into eRezLife and fill out your applicant profile. Then you can find the RA and HR applications under “Job Postings”. To create an account with eRezlife you do not need to use a Vanderbilt email but are encouraged to use one.

Please note that the compensation package for the staff position is considered financial aid and may affect your financial aid package. We recommend that you speak with someone in the Financial Aid office to determine how RA/HR compensation may or may not affect you specifically before accepting an offer.

Information Sessions

If you would like to learn more about the RA or HR positions, you can attend information sessions in our residential communities. Three information sessions are scheduled at this time:

  • October 22nd – Alumni Hall Classroom – 7pm
  • November 9th – Kissam Center Multipurpose Room – 7pm
  • November 17th – Lewis Lounge (Highland Quad) – 8pm
  • December 2nd – Commons Center Multipurpose Room – 7pm

Application Workshops

The Center for Student Professional Development, partnering with Residential Education, is providing an RA Application Workshop to help applicants create the best application possible. These workshops are incredibly valuable to applicants. Last year, 100% of applicants who attended one of these workshops were offered an interview.

Application workshop attendees can expect to understand:

  • the nature of the position they are applying for
  • the importance of story telling
  • how to communicate experiences
  • the importance and value of the job and how it impacts future professional development

This year’s application workshops will all be held at the Center for Student Professional Development in the Student Life Center. This year’s workshop schedule is as follows:

  • October 21st – Application Workshop – 6pm, Center for Student Professional Development on the 2nd floor of the SLC
  • December 2nd – Application Workshop – 5pm, Center for Student Professional Development on the 2nd floor of the SLC

Interview Workshops

RA interview workshop attendees can expect to:

  • understand storytelling
  • understand communicating experiences
  • understand how to get to the point
  • learn to speak in front of a panel

HR interview workshop attendees can expect to process past experiences and understand opportunities for growth and promotion in relation to the HR position.

This year’s interview workshops will all be held at the Center for Student Professional Development in the Student Life Center. This year’s workshop schedule is as follows:

  • January 19th – Interview Workshop (RAs) – 5pm, Center for Student Professional Development on the 2nd floor of the SLC
  • January 20th – Interview Workshop (RAs) – 6pm, Center for Student Professional Development on the 2nd floor of the SLC
  • January 27th – Interview Workshop (HRs) – 6pm, Center for Student Professional Development on the 2nd floor of the SLC

The Role of the Resident Adviser

The Resident Adviser (RA) is a paraprofessional student staff member for the Office of Housing and Residential Education. RA’s assume responsibility for fostering an environment where all students feel supported in the pursuit of their academic and personal development.  RA’s work closely with our professional Area Coordinators, Head Residents, and faculty to create a premiere residential experience where students can learn and grow.  RA’s create educational and social programs, provide mentorship, and serve as a resource to students on their floors.  The position requires dedication, flexibility, commitment, and enthusiasm.  As student leaders, RA’s will actively work to incorporate Vanderbilt’s Leadership Excellence Philosophy (ACCESS) into their daily work.
