Who, What, Wisewear

Ambassador Spotlight

Recently the Wond’ry hosted Vanderbilt alumnus, and distinguished entrepreneur, Dr. Jerry Wilmink, founder and CEO of Wisewear. Dr. Wilmink was on campus to deliver the Chambers Lecture at the School of Engineering, but made time in his busy schedule to engage with Vanderbilt’s new hub for entrepreneurship. After touring the Wond’ry he proceeded to demonstrate the genius of his product.

At first glance, Wisewear presents as most other gorgeous, high-end bracelets might. However, upon deeper engagement, we discovered the brains behind the beauty of Dr. Wilmink’s device. Not only was he sporting a sleek piece of jewelry, but it also had the capability to act as an emergency alert system! In ten seconds of rapid action, we saw how one flick of the wrist, a tap to engage, and an automatic response from his cell phone would immediately transmit his current conversation, as well as his location, to his emergency contact. He dazzled our team, who had gathered around him in awe.

By merging style and technology, Wisewear is opening a new window into the future of both fashion and safety. Their stunning accessories are bound to become a jewelry box staple, and we look forward to a future in their hands (or on their wrists).
