Resume and Cover Letter

It’s the most common question we get asked: what should these look like? Check out the resources below to see what an actual resume and cover letter can look like for this industry:

FAQs

There’s no single best way to get started and you don’t have to have prior experience to excel in these career paths. A great way to begin is by looking for opportunities to get involved and develop relevant skills. For example, check out student organizations, on-campus research opportunities, and skill building platforms.

For technical roles, employers like to see relevant experiences and skills. While prior internships are helpful, if you’re just beginning, enhance your resume by adding relevant courses, student organizations, and technical skills (even introductory knowledge). Networking with alumni and industry professionals is also a helpful way to learn more about career paths and potentially receive referrals which can lead to interview opportunities.

Generally speaking, large companies begin the recruiting process in early-fall semester while medium, small, and start-up companies may not ramp up recruiting until mid-/late-fall semester and spring semester.
