North House
Meet the Residential Staff | Photos
North House, located on the Commons, houses 186 women in double
rooms, 12 triple rooms, and 5 single rooms. An innovative renovation in
1989 transformed it from a building with many dark, unusable areas into
a modern residential facility that has numerous study areas and a sun
filled atrium on the sixth floor.
The building is fully carpeted and has central air-conditioning. The
first and second floor have private baths in each room. The third through sixth
floors have community bathrooms. There is a residential staff member on each
floor. A graduate scholar, a faculty in residence and
the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Housing and Residential Education also live in North House.
The residential staff organizes programs in the areas of Women’s Health, race and
gender issues and other topics pertinent to a female residential population, in
addition to social and recreational programs.
North House was built in 1929.
