Break Housing

Thanksgiving Break (Fall 2025)

Dates:

  • Halls Close for Thanksgiving Break on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 9AM CST
  • Halls Open after Thanksgiving Break on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at 9AM CST

Registration:

All on-campus residents are eligible to register with housing to remain in their on-campus housing (residence hall or Greek house) for any portion of the Thanksgiving Break.  There are no additional charges to remain on campus during the Thanksgiving Break.

Thanksgiving Break registration opens in the Housing Portal on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 8AM CDT.  Registrations must be submitted by Saturday, November 15 at 5PM CST.

Winter Break (2025-2026)

Dates:

  • Halls Close for Winter Break on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at 9AM CST
  • Halls Open for the Spring 2026 Semester on Friday, January 2, 2026 at 9AM CST

General Information:

All residence halls and Greek houses are considered closed during the winter break period and students are expected to depart campus.  Housing recognizes that a finite number of students may need to remain on campus during winter break for the following reasons:

  • International students unable to travel home
  • Verifiable employment/research
  • University athletic commitment
  • Housing insecurity
  • Other extreme circumstances

Eligibility:

Students requesting on-campus housing during winter break must be current enrolled undergraduates living on-campus for both the Fall and Spring semesters.  Students graduating in December, on a leave of absence/suspension, or participating in a fall or spring study abroad or internship program will not be approved for on-campus winter break housing.  Students who reside in Davidson, Robertson, Sumner, Wilson, Rutherford, Williamson, and Cheatham counties are generally not eligible for winter break housing.

Applying for Winter Break Housing:

The Winter Break Housing Request will be available in the Housing Portal beginning Wednesday, October 1 at 8 AM and must be submitted by Friday, October 31 at 4PM.  Late applications submitted by Saturday, November 15 at 11:59PM will incur a $50 late application fee.

Students requesting winter break housing due to verifiable employment/research will be required to produce supporting documentation.

All applications will be reviewed for approval by a Student Affairs committee.  Students not approved for winter break housing are required to depart campus by Sunday, December 14 at 9AM.

Winter Break Housing Notification:

Students who submit their housing request by Friday, October 31 at 11:59PM will be notified no later than Friday, November 14.

Students who submit a late housing request between Saturday, November 1 and Saturday, November 15 will be notified no later than Monday, December 1.

Spring Break (Spring 2026)

Dates:

  • Halls Close for Spring Break on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 9AM CST
  • Halls Open after Spring Break on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at 9AM CDT

Registration:

All on-campus residents are eligible to register with housing to remain in their on-campus housing (residence hall or Greek house) for any portion of the Spring Break.  There are no additional charges to remain on campus during the Spring Break.

Spring Break registration opens in the Housing Portal on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at 8AM CST.  Registrations must be submitted by Sunday, March 1, 2026 at 5PM CST.
