Have you visited the Community Event Space yet? If not, let’s tell you all about this new Student Centers venue! The CES is located on Greek Row, in the location of the old Phi Kappa Sigma house, right behind Cole Hall.

The Community Event Space (CES) serves as a multi-purpose building- featuring two floors, the building is utilized for both rehearsals and events. The first floor has both an open, multi-purpose space, along with a catering kitchen the features modern, state of the art appliances. It is primarily the basement that is used for rehearsals- it is a fan favorite among our Vanderbilt Performing Arts Community!

The square footage of the CES’s first floor is 1786 x 108 sq ft and the bottom 1812 x 108 sq ft. When it comes to set-ups, the first floor is able to be placed into both banquet and theater-style, and the basement can be set to classroom and theater.

The CES has a wide array of audio/visual capabilities. The first floor features a podium with HDMI support so that you can screen share your computer with the projector screen and also play audio. On the basement floor, there is an aux cable available so that groups can play music. There are also blacklights both upstairs and downstairs for some really cool event atmospheres!

Some notable events that have occurred in CES have included:

  • Asian American Student Association’s Advocacy Dialogue event
  • African Student Union’s Afro Throwback (Y2K) Party
  • The Vanderbilt School of Medicine 2021 Orientation
  • Alternative Spring Break’s Participant Information Session

Our very own Student Centers fall 2021 training was even held on the first floor of the CES!
