Updating Communication Tools & Data Security

Developed for use by student organizations the LISTSERVE creation/modification and Shared Exchange Mailbox creation/modification requests have been web forms since their implementation a decade ago.

Dean of Students Communications has long had partial responsibility for supporting both Dean of Student shops’ and student organizations’ LISTSERVs and SEMs, and over time, has been assigned primary responsibility for their support.

The forms enable tracking the update process, and increase the probability of accurately interpreting requests.

The forms camp out on the DoS Communications Anchor Link page, and links to them can be found on the Dean of Students 4staff page.

Also on the 4staff page is a link to a provisioning from that helps ensure that on-boarding staff and Graduate Assistants not only get access to the communications tools that they need, but also that they get set up in correctly in the appropriate shares on University file servers.

Both individual folders and group folders should be in the DOS share on vu1file.it.vanderbilt.edu/dos/. This requirement ensures that saved work product is in a location that gets backed up, and that files that might be lost are recoverable.
