The new Leadership and Service Center in the Russell House University Union at the University of South Carolina offers students an innovative space to put their ideas into action. With a collaborative floor plan, new technology, and initiatives such as leadership coaching, the center’s staff work to match learning and development based on a curriculum for individual and group success.  Learn about the visioning process that got us here, take a virtual tour of our newly renovated space and discover the curriculum concepts being developed for our future.

As director of campus life and the Russell House University Union, Kim Lovelace McMahon provides leadership and vision for the 15 full-time staff, four graduate assistants and 150+ student employees and leaders in providing a safe facility, quality programs and important services to the university community. Kim’s area of responsibilities include: Russell House operations and event services; Leadership and Service Center; Carolina Productions, Carolina After Dark, Homecoming and Tigerburn.
Prior to returning to Carolina in August 2008, Kim worked at Texas Tech University, Georgia Institute of Technology and Florida State University with various responsibilities in the student union, including leadership programs, student organization services, community service initiatives, spirit activities, campus-wide programming, bowling and art centers, facility operations and risk management. She was involved in national service for the Campus Outreach Opportunity League (COOL) for two years before attending graduate school. Since her arrival to USC, she has been involved in facility improvements and design and construction projects to maximize space and learning.  The Leadership and Service Center model is the design concept for addition student activity spaces at USC.

Kim earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Speech from the University of South Carolina in 1993 and a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from Florida State University in 1997.
