DOS STARS Spotlight: Carrie Mikulka

She is a true leader within the Vanderbilt community and I am continually inspired by the joy and courage that she brings to her position.”

What do you love most about working in Vanderbilt Dean of Students?
I love the community and support of all of the staff members in DOS.

What led you to Vanderbilt?
I came to Vanderbilt to pursue my Masters in Mental Health Counseling. I chose Vanderbilt because of the warmth and support I felt from faculty members.

If you could give one piece of advice to a new staff member, what would it be?
Get to know other staff members! Also, get a rand cookie ASAP.

Did you always know that you wanted to work in student affairs?
I knew I wanted to work with undergraduate students after working in orientation in undergrad. I want to work in a university counseling center to help support students.

What is your favorite restaurant in Nashville?
Proper Bagel!

Starbucks order?
Chai latte!

Go-to workday lunch?
Grins, usually a veggie burger or mac and cheese!
