Why am I seeing this error message?: LockDown Browser should not be used to log in to your Learning System

If you try to access Lockdown Browser using a desktop shortcut, you may see a message that reads as follows: “LockDown Browser should not be used to log in to your Learning System and navigate to your exam. Use a standard browser (eg. Chrome, Firefox, etc.) to navigate to the exam and LockDown Browser will launch automatically when it’s required.”

To resolve this issue, please do the following:

  1. Use a supported standard browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox to log into Brightspace.
  2. After logging in, go to the quiz in Brightspace.
  3. Once you access the quiz, click on the next page. There should be a “Launch Lockdown Browser” button.
  4. Click that button. Make sure that your browser allows pop ups from Brightspace. Once you click the button, you will see a pop up to go to Lockdown Browser. This is the proper way to access the quiz and Lockdown Browser.
