Spirit of Gold

Step #1 Submit the Intent Form

Submit the Intent Form as a prospective member to join our mailing list to receive the latest information on the upcoming Spirit of Gold season.

This form is typically made available in February, prior to the upcoming SOG season.

Students who will not be in college this Fall but are still interested in the Spirit of Gold and Vanderbilt Athletic Bands should submit the Request More Information form.

Step #2 Submit the Commitment Form

Submitting the Commitment Form is where you commit whether or not you will be a member of the Spirit of Gold for the upcoming season.

This form is typically due in mid-July.

Submitting this form also reserves your on-campus housing for Band Camp.

While prospective members may still join the Spirit of Gold after the Commitment Form deadline, their on-campus housing may not be guaranteed for band camp.

Step #3 Submit the Placement Assessment

We do not have auditions. The Vanderbilt Athletic Bands accept all persons willing to put in the effort to make the band successful. The purpose of the Placement Assessment is to make sure everyone is placed in a role that allows for success without undue stress. The Athletic Bands move quickly, and we understand that our members are students. Every year, we have members who have never marched before and quickly become valuable members.

Info Sessions

We will be hosting several Info Sessions thoughout the Spring and Summer. These Zoom meetings are an opportunity for you to meet current members of the Spirit of Gold, ask questions, and learn about their experiences in band and college!

All meetings are via Zoom. Meeting links will be sent via email.
