Introduction to Respondus

Respondus Lockdown Browser is a third-party application that is intergrated into Brightspace. This application essentially “locks down” a user’s computer while they are taking a quiz in Brightspace. The video below explains what students will experience if Respondus is activated during a Brightspace quiz. If you’d like to use Respondus on your quiz, you can find instructions on how to activate Respondus here.

Let students know ahead of time if you plan to use Respondus during an upcoming quiz. This allows them to download the program ahead of time, if they haven’t already. Make your quiz visible to students ahead of time, so that they are able to do this. We suggest giving your students these instructions:

Note: Making a quiz visible doesn’t mean it’s available for them to enter. It only shows them that a quiz is coming up, along with the instructions. Learn more about quiz settings here.
