Setting Up VUnetID

To ensure you are set up to receive important information and communications, you must create your VUnetID.

Vanderbilt University uses Duo Security as its multifactor authentication solution which requires you to create your VUnetID and enroll in Duo multifactor authentication. You will receive a claim email for your VU account and VUnetID. Visit vu.edu/claim and select Claim Invitation. Follow the prompts to set up your account, entering the VUnetID from the email followed by the six-digit claim code provided in the email. Once you create your VUnetID, you must enroll in Duo multifactor authentication.


Duo Self-Enrollment Process

Duo’s self-enrollment process makes it easy to register your phone or tablet and activate the Duo Mobile application so you can receive Duo requests via push notifications and tap to approve and log in.

  • Set up Duo Mobile by visiting vu.edu/ssp and signing in with your VUnetID email/password you just created.
  • Follow the prompts from Duo Mobile until you have the option to select “Duo Mobile.” Then continue through the remaining prompts to set up the Duo Mobile app. Be sure to download the Duo Mobile app to successfully add your device to Duo Mobile.

    Do not approve pushes that you did not initiate or expect.
