Alumni Band

Calling all Vanderbilt Athletic Band Alumni!

Whether you were a member of the Spirit of Gold, Joint University Bands, Vanderbilt Marching Band, or any other iteration of the Vanderbilt Marching & Athletic Bands - the Spirit of Gold invites you to perform alongside us at halftime during the Homecoming/Reunion Weekend football game on November 8th, 2025! 

The deadline to reserve your spot in the Alumni Band performance is November 6th, 2025.

Tickets

Individuals who have already purchased tickets to the game may use those.

Sheet Music & Drill

The Vanderbilt Athletic Bands Staff will provide the following to all participants who register:

  • Woodwinds, Brass, & Percussion: Sheet music will be provided in advance.
  • Guard: Choreography will be provided in advance.
  • Twirlers: Audio recordings of the music will be sent in advance; you may create your own routines.

Since rehearsal time is limited, Alumni participants will have a designated area on the field as part of the show but not drill.

The Spirit of Gold Alumni Band performance is open to:

  • Trombone
  • Euphonium / Baritone
  • Sousaphone / Tuba
  • Colorguard (Flag)
  • Twirler
  • Snare Drum
  • Tenor Drums (Quads)
  • Bass Drum
  • Cymbals

Due to the growth of student involvement in the Spirit of Gold, the only instruments we will be able to provide are sousaphones, cymbals, and flags.
All other participants must provide their own instruments.

Attire / Uniform

Participants in the alumni band should wear:

  • Black shirt (and/or jacket) with Vanderbilt logo
  • Black pants
  • Black shoes
