Course Requisites

Course requisites are used to ensure that students understand the type of knowledge a course will build upon/require in order to be successful.

  • Prerequisite: Any requirement (e.g., course, test score) that must be completed prior to taking a course.
  • Corequisite: Any requirement that must be enrolled concurrently with, or successfully completed prior to, a specific course.
  • Antirequisite: Antirequisites are courses that with substantial overlap in course content such that both courses cannot be taken for full credit.

Requisites are listed in course descriptions, which can be found both in the School Catalog and in the Class Search application in YES.

Students are responsible for meeting the published requisites for each course requested.

Students can be in the process of completing a pre-requisite in order to enroll in a course during the following term. This is considered a conditional enrollment. Post-enrollment requisite checks will occur prior to the start of the following term. Schools have the authority to drop a student from a course for which the student has not fulfilled the published requisite.
