Transfer Credit

Undergraduate Schools

Transfer credit is available to undergraduate students in the following circumstances:

  • Entering transfer students.
  • Entering first-year students who have taken college work during high school through dual-degree or concurrent enrollment programs. (Pre-Freshman Credit)
  • Current students who are approved to take coursework at another institution during the fall and/or spring semester. (Semester Work Elsewhere)
  • Current students who are approved to take coursework at another institution during the summer. (Summer Work Elsewhere)

Current students who are planning to take coursework at another institution should submit a detailed syllabus for each course through YES. The evaluation process for transfer students and entering first-year students is outlined here: https://registrar.vanderbilt.edu/transfer-credit.php.

Students must obtain approval from their school’s Dean’s Office in advance of studying elsewhere during a semester or summer term in order to transfer those credits to Vanderbilt.

Transfer credit will not be awarded for any course in which a student earned a grade of C- or below.
