Getting Started
To work in a VUMC lab, students must identify a VUMC Faculty Mentor and receive an appointment. Each department has an administrative designee who handles the appointment process. Students may contact Amanda Cupples for additional information.
The appointment process includes:
- Signing a confidentiality agreement, general release form, and providing emergency contact information.
- Students also must be cleared by a VUMC background check and the Occupational Health Clinic. The VU Student Health Clinic can assist students with the paperwork. The background check and Occupational Health clearance take considerable time. Students should start the process no later than 30 days before their anticipated start date.
Once the appointment packet is complete, the student receives an appointment letter and can get started in the lab.
