Check out our newly updated Brightspace FAQs! This list runs through the most common questions the Brightspace Support Team gets throughout the year. If you have any questions not listed here, be sure to contact our Support team for assistance.
Support Schedule
The Vanderbilt University Brightspace Instructional Technologists are available for support between 8 AM and 4 PM Monday through Friday. Any emails received after 4 PM will be addressed when our team returns to normal support at 8 AM the following business day. While we’re out, we encourage you to utilize our On-Demand Resources to answer any questions that arise.
There are many roles in Brightspace. Here are brief descriptions of each one:
Instructor – The instructor of record for the course.
Instructor (Non-SIS) – The organizer of a non-SIS course, with full privileges within that course space.
Designer – a guest instructor who has full privileges, but is not visible on the classlist
TA (Instructor) – a TA that will be grading, as well as uploading/creating content
TA (Editor) – a TA that will be uploading/creating content
TA (Grader) – a TA that will be using the gradebook
Student – a student enrolled in the course, also auditors
Student (Guest) – a student who is not enrolled in the course, but has been invited by the Instructor to view the content and participate
