How do I create a video assignment?

The Video Assignments tool in Brightspace is a third-party tool that is integrated with Brightspace. As such, you need to ensure that third-party cookies are enabled in your web browser in order for everything to work properly. Using web browsers, or browser extensions, that block third-party cookies can result in the tool not working as expected.

When adding a Video Assignment in Brightspace, there are two options in how to proceed. We will address both in this guide.

Create a New Video Assignment

To create a Video Assignment in your course, you should navigate to your course’s Content page and then take the following steps:

  1. Click Existing Activities

  2. Scroll down and click Video Assignments (QL)

  3. Select the type of Video Assignment you would like to create. Options include Individual, Question & Answer, Group, or Interactive Video. You can also Copy an Existing Assignment if you want to duplicate a Video Assignment you already have in this course.
  4. Add the details for your Video Assignment.
    • For each Video Assignment, you must add a title, enter instructions, and select evaluation type. Depending on your window size, you will likely need to scroll down to enter assignment instructions.

  5. Once you have entered the information needed, click the blue Save button to save your settings and insert this Video Assignment to your course.

At this point, you should see your Video Assignment added to your course’s Content page. If you do not see it displayed, doublecheck that you do not have any browser settings or browser extensions that are blocking third-party cookies.

Add an Already Existing Video Assignment

If you already have created a Video Assignment but need to add it to the Content page in your course, you can follow the steps below to find your pre-existing Video Assignments.

  1. On your course’s Content page, click Existing Activities

  2. Click External Learning Tools

  3. Scroll through the list and select the name of the Video Assignment you already created.

    • Note: There is no indication in this list what tools were used to create each link, so you must know the exact name of the Video Assignment you want to add.

At this point you should see the Video Assignment added to your course’s Content page. If you do not see it displayed, doublecheck that you do not have any browser settings or browser extensions that are blocking third-party cookies.
