Warren (NotLarry) Eckstein

Dear ACCRE Community,

We are deeply saddened to learn that our long-time colleague, Warren (NotLarry) Eckstein, passed away recently at his home with his family.

Warren dedicated over 20 years of his career to Vanderbilt University, working first in the Network Operations Center with VUIT before joining ACCRE where he served as a systems administrator for the last ten years.

During his time at ACCRE, he was instrumental in developing virtualization and architecting our current hypervisor cluster which has greatly improved the efficiency and stability of our operations. He had a deep knowledge of computing hardware and a constant desire to develop new skills and tinker with new equipment.

Those of us who had the privilege to work with Warren remember him as a friendly and compassionate person always ready to lend a hand, but also for his eccentric projects and uniquely sarcastic sense of humor. We are deeply saddened that he is no longer with us, but grateful to have shared part of our journey with such a remarkable colleague and friend.

Our thoughts are with his family in this difficult time.
