IES offers remote, for-credit internships abroad with organizations based in the South Pacific, South America, Asia, and Europe. A variety of sectors are available, including STEM, Marketing, Graphic Design, IT, and more. All IES internships feature a concurrent seminar. Here's a student describing her experience with an IES remote internship.

Internships require a commitment of at least 10 hours per week. Some internship placements require language proficiency. Specific internship schedule will be determined between the intern and their supervisor.

As a part of the program, students will also enroll in a seminar to help understand and navigate the international workplace. Students will also have access to Rosetta Stone language-learning software to hone their language skills.

As part of the IES program, students will complete a final paper on their internship. Rising juniors and above preferred.

VU credit: 3 (This 3-credit Remote Global Internship is offered as part of a 12–18 semester credit-hour load. Students will complete the IES Remote Global Internship and internship course alongside their regular Vanderbilt semester coursework. Students studying abroad or on leave of absence are not eligible to participate.)
