CoEvoD Preceptor Applications
Overview
Requests to join the Training Faculty will be considered on a rolling basis. Appointments of new preceptors will be based on the research projects within their lab, track record of mentoring, required mentor training, and interest and willingness to actively participate in CoEvoD activities.
Our policy will be to fund the trainee, not the faculty member. Thus, not every project in a particular faculty member’s lab need fit the CoEvoD for that faculty member to be part of the training faculty. Because of this inclusive policy, designed so that all students employing computational evolutionary approaches in disease-relevant projects will be part of the CoEvoD community, the training faculty may include not only those whose main research focus is CoEvoD-related research, but also some who have broader research programs or are just beginning to move into computational evolution. These preceptors may have only one component of their research programs involving CoEvoD or may be actively collaborating with one or more of the Training Faculty. We strongly believe these investigators will greatly enhance the quality, breadth, scope, and reach of CoEvoD; it is precisely this policy that guided the assembly of our current roster of preceptors.
Required Materials
- Cover letter explaining how the preceptor would fit into the broad theme of computational evolutionary approaches to disease (1-2 pages)
- Stated commitment to participate in ESI-sponsored activities
- NIH Biosketch
- Proof of CAM/CIMER training
All items should be incorporated into a single PDF titled “T32_Preceptor_Application_(LastName)” — e.g., T32_Preceptor_Application_Flick.pdf
