To Sing a Troubled Song
September 22, 2014
The Curb Scholars attended a lecture presented by Stuart Bailie of Oh Yeah Belfast, a music center seeking to preserve Ireland’s music history. The talk, titled “To Sing a Troubled Song: Music, Conflict and Restoration in Northern Ireland,” tracked reactions to the Troubles in music. Bailie played selections from several artists, such as Van Morrison, the Clash, and U2. He concluded the talk with a description of what Oh Yeah Belfast does, giving the scholars ideas for implementing projects creatively.
