Film Screening of Remand and Q&A with Randy Brewer

Posted by on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 in .

The Curb Scholars made a trip over to Sarratt Cinema for a screening of the film Remand, produced by our guest Randy Brewer with Revolution Films. The film follows the story of Henry and Jim’s relationship but was also a view of how law students from Pepperdine University led to systemic changes in the Ugandan criminal justice system which had thousands of prisoners waiting in remand for their day in court. Their help and introduction to plea bargaining benefited thousands of people, including Henry and several other prisoners desperate for justice. If you missed the screening, you can watch on www.remandfilm.com.

After the film screening Brewer told us his story and answered questions from the scholars and others who attended the screening. We learned about his path from shooting music videos to commercials and now to his new passion of documentaries. He spoke to us about the importance of making genuine relationships in order to be successful. We are excited to continue our discussion with Brewer this weekend when the scholars will have the chance to visit his studio.
