The Curb Scholars arrived ready to present their project ideas. Each group spoke about their vision for the project, the needs it would fill, and next steps to be taken to implement it. Four ideas were presented: Coffee Roulette, Barter Day, “Dore It Yourself,” and Overheard @ Vandy. After each presentation, the Scholars submitted questions and suggestions to each group, which led to refining the ideas to a 30-second “elevator pitch,” highlighting main vision points. After these were presented, the group chose one project to move forward on immediately: Coffee Roulette.

For this idea, the Scholars would provide free coffee to students and passersby on campus who would be willing to enjoy their coffee while having a conversation with another person who came by. The Scholars ended the meeting outlining next steps to make this event a reality and discussing possible challenges and details to be considered. At the next meeting, they’ll discuss their progress and further steps.
