Research Focus

The Locke Biosensing Lab develops novel optical biosensing platforms to address current clinical diagnostic challenges at the point-of-care. We explore the use of various nanoplasmonic structures incorporated paper- or micro-fluidic platforms to create rapid diagnostic platforms that are simplistic and user-friendly.

Projects

  • Identification of salivary biomarkers for eosinophilic esophagitis monitoring
  • Low-cost, separation and characterization of pathogens
  • Development of an at-home monitoring tool for early detection bacterial infection
  • Development of a mobile and paper-based platform for local-surface plasmon resonance sensing
