Smt. Amba and Sri V S Sastry Chair

In pursuit of academic excellence at the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, Professor Amrutur Anilkumar has set up the Smt Amba and Sri V S Sastry Chair in memory of his parents.

The first occupant of the Smt Amba and  Sri V S Sastry  Chair is Dr. Neeldhara Misra https://iitgn.ac.in/faculty/cse/neeldhara.

Dr. Neldhara Misra is a computer scientist and her research interests are in the design and analysis of algorithms for computational problems. The problems she works with are related to :

• Finding patterns in large networks (e.g, discovering closely-knit communities ).

• Determining who should win an election given a set of votes.

• Distributing resources among people (who may value them differently) in a way that makes everyone happy.

• Coming up with strategies to win a game of solo chess.

• Figuring out how to contain the spread of a fire by deploying as few firefighters as possible.
