The Division of Real Estate, Facilities and Development at Vanderbilt University plays a pivotal role in shaping and sustaining the university’s physical environment to support its academic mission and strategic growth. The division integrates real estate strategy, facilities operations and campus development to optimize Vanderbilt’s 340-acre campus and over 8 million square feet of building space. Through initiatives like the FutureVU land-use plan and public-private partnerships, the division manages commercial and multifamily properties, oversees capital projects, and stewards strategic acquisitions to enhance campus life and foster innovation. This comprehensive approach ensures that Vanderbilt remains a dynamic and forward-thinking institution, responsive to the evolving needs of its community and the broader Nashville area.

Our Departments

Vanderbilt University Real Estate (VURE) supports campus growth and departmental needs through strategic land acquisitions and management of over one million square feet of commercial and multifamily properties. It oversees leasing operations for Vanderbilt University and VUMC, provides housing for faculty, students, and staff, and plays a key role in implementing the FutureVU land use plan. VURE also manages partnerships and properties like the Vanderbilt Legends Club and Holiday Inn Vanderbilt.

Institute for Quantum Innovation in Chattanooga

The Institute for Quantum Innovation will allow Vanderbilt University’s leading quantum nanophotonics, research and educational programs to have collaborative access to the EPB Quantum Center℠, the nation’s first facility to provide commercial access to both a trapped-ion quantum computer and a photonics-based local quantum network.
