Temporary pedestrian pathways will be highlighted and separated from construction areas by perimeter fencing to maintain safety and accessibility. Buses will be rerouted to Highland Avenue to access Stevenson Center Lane and the VUMC roundabout near Eskind.
HISTORIC CORE NEIGHBORHOOD
Blasting to Begin at Stevenson Center 6
Blasting operations are scheduled to begin May 25 at the Stevenson Center 6 construction site. Blasting will occur on weekdays and is expected to last approximately four weeks.
Blasting Overview
- Blasts will typically occur around 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and/or 1 p.m.
- A series of three air-horn blasts will be sounded five minutes prior to the blast.
- A series of three blast signals will sound one minute before detonation.
- An all-clear signal will sound following an inspection of the blast.
The contractor will conduct monitoring during each blast and provide data reporting. If elevated vibration levels are detected, blasting patterns will be adjusted to reduce impacts. Industry-standard safety measures will be used for all blasting events.
