Alexis Simpson Washington, D.C. - Girls Inspired to Achieve (GITA Girls)

My summer project took place in Washington D.C. working with Girls Inspired to Achieve. This organization targets girls of color and works to assist girls of color in developing the skills, accessing the resources, gaining the knowledge, and building the professional network necessary to achieve in every aspect of their lives. My summer project was focused on creating a five-module curriculum that embodied the mission and purpose of Girls Inspired to Achieve. Through out my summer project I worked with girls in the community to gain insight into the issues of girls of color, learn about their lives and experiences, figure out what was important to them, and gather what resources they were lacking and needed from programs such as Girls Inspired to Achieve.
