OneVU Account Management

You can manage your OneVU account settings at any time by visiting onevu.vanderbilt.edu/account-settings/home.

From this page, you can update your password, manage your devices, set up additional verification methods, and keep your recovery information up to date.

Keeping your account settings current helps ensure you stay securely connected to Vanderbilt systems with minimal disruptions.

OneVU Account Management

  • How do I set up my phone number as a recovery method?

    To add a new phone number: 

    1. Navigate to https://onevu.vanderbilt.edu/account-settings/home.
    2. Login.
    3. Under Security methods, select Manage security methods.
    4. Under phone, click Set up another
    5. Follow the prompts to set up your new phone number.

    If you no longer have access to your old phone, you may access the Manage security methods using your password and text message verification with your new phone. 

  • How do I access OneVU if I don’t have access to my old phone?
    1. Navigate to https://onevu.vanderbilt.edu/account-settings/home.
    2. Login.
    3. Enter either your Email or VUnetID, on this screen, click Verify with something else.
    4. Select Phone or Email, to receive a code.
      Enter the code on the screen, click Verify
    5. Select Password, enter your password, click Verify
    6. You are now logged into OneVU and you can remove your old device.
  • How do I remove my phone number from OneVU?

    To remove an old phone: 

    1. Navigate to https://onevu.vanderbilt.edu/account-settings/home.
    2. Login.
    3. Under Security methods, select Manage security methods.
    4. Under Phone, select the phone number you wish to remove.
    5. Click Remove next to the old device.


    Tip:

    Be sure to set up your new phone before removing your old one to avoid login issues. 

  • How do I update my password in OneVU?

    To update your password: 

    1. Navigate to https://onevu.vanderbilt.edu/account-settings/home.
    2. Login.
    3. Under Security methods, select Manage security methods.
    4. Go to the Password section. Click, Update.
    5. Enter your current password and then your new password.
    6. You will be asked “Are you sure you want to reset Password?”
    7. Click, Yes.
  • How do I add or update my recovery email to OneVU?

    To add or change your recovery email: 

    1. Navigate to https://onevu.vanderbilt.edu/account-settings/home.
    2. Login.
    3. Under Personal Information, select Manage personal information.
    4. Enter your email address in the “secondary email” field
    5. Click Save or Update.

       

    A recovery email helps you reset your password or unlock your account if you’re ever locked out. 

  • Can I opt out of using my phone as an authenticator in OneVU?

    Yes, you can choose a different method such as: 

    • Email Authentication 
    • YubiKey or Hardware Token 
  • What are the two types of push notifications used by Okta Verify?

    Regular Push Notification 

    When logging in, you'll receive a push notification on your registered mobile device: 

    • Tap Yes, It's Me to approve. 
    • Tap No, It's Not Me if it wasn’t you trying to log in.



    Number Challenge Push Notification 

    This method adds an extra layer of verification: 

    • A number appears on your login screen. 
    • On your mobile device, you’ll be shown several numbers. 
    • Tap the number that matches what you see on your screen. 

    This method ensures you’re physically present and aware of the login attempt, reducing the risk of accidental approvals or phishing.
