Congratulations to our own Charreau Bell, Ph.D., Faculty Director of the DS Minor, for winning Greater Nashville Technology Council’s Tech Educator of the Year Award!
This award is presented to an outstanding educator in Middle Tennessee who has exhibited exceptional dedication to and innovation in the advancement of technology education, as identified through open nominations.
When the data science minor launched in Fall 2021, Dr. Bell took the reins as director to continue the vision of making it a home for students from all disciplines. Today, the program welcomes psychologists, historians, engineers, musicians, philosophers, teachers, and everyone in between. She continues to prioritize growth in both capacity and quality, working to create space for all who want to learn. Beyond the minor, she has developed and taught several generative AI courses at Vanderbilt, including a graduate course on designing and deploying generative AI systems for proprietary products. Since the program began, she has advised over 1,200 students and speaks with nearly one in twelve undergraduates each year. If data science or generative AI sounds relevant for your future, the DS Minor is hoping to hear from you next at our upcoming events!
