Farewell to Rev. Stacey Croft & Rabbi Joshua Barton

Posted by on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in News.

The end of the school year is filled with excitement, change, and sorrow. It is with fond sadness that we will be saying goodbye to two of our Affiliated Chaplains here at Vanderbilt.

Rev. Stacey Croft, who is our Presbyterian Church (PCA) Affiliated Chaplain who leads our Reformed University Fellowship (RUF) student group will be leaving to expand and pastor a local congregation, Christ Presbyterian Church,  here near Vanderbilt and Belmont. Stacey has been with Vanderbilt RUF since 2005.

Rabbi Joshua Barton, who is our Jewish Affiliated Chaplain and who leads our Jewish group Vanderbilt Hillel, will be leaving to assume a role at West End Synagogue. Rabbi Joshua was Assistant Director and Campus Rabbi for Vanderbilt Hillel. As an undergrad here at Vanderbilt, Joshua earned his BA, magna cum laude, in Religious Studies and Political Science. This will be the first time that West End Synagogue will have 2 rabbis for their expanding congregation. Rabbi Joshua has been with us since 2012.

We are excited for the new opportunities for our friends and it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye. At least in these cases, they won’t be going far, and both have promised to come by as much as they can. Both have been a dynamic and inspiring presence on our campus and their ministries have swelled with new faces as the campus came to hear about these amazing chaplains. make sure you stop by OUCRL where Rev. Stacey’s office is located, and the Ben Schulman Center for Jewish Life where Rabbi Joshua’s office is located, to wish them luck on their exciting new ministries!
