The annual Chaplain’s Speaker Series is honored to welcome the Rev. Naomi Washington-Leapheart, Faith Work Director of the National LGBTQ Task Force and Adjunct Professor at Villanova University, to Vanderbilt University on Thursday, February 8th through Friday, February 9th. Rev. Washington-Leapheart is a United Church of Christ (UCC) minister, organizer, and organizational consultant who engages in work around race, sexuality, gender, and faith. In the midst of socio-political turmoil, a growing conversation has emerged concerning the intersections of self-care and activism in all of its many forms. This two-part series will include,

Rev. Washington-Leapheart will engage the topics of black and queer liberation, spiritual resistance, the academy, allyship, and how student activism is playing a pivotal role in societal change.

Feb. 9 | Reading Room, Vanderbilt Divinity School | 10am – 12pm
“Clearing Out the Closet”
Spiritual trauma is a vast and complicated subject for people of color, queer-identified persons and people who love them, and communities living below the poverty line. The aim of this workshop is to offer practical means by which to engage wounds caused by spiritual communities in a brave environment. *Open to the Nashville Community* and *Brunch Provided*
