Formal Cooler Giveback!

Posted by on Monday, April 21, 2014 in News.

What happens to all those painted coolers after formal weekend?
This year, students gathered to give those coolers a second life. OUCRL collected donated coolers, cleaned, re-painted, and filled them with food and necessities for the Nashville homeless. Led by the Vanderbilt InterFraternity Council, the Interfaith Council, and many others, Vanderbilt students gave back to the Nashville Community. The event featured a BBQ and lots of working together for an afternoon of service giving to those who are in need.

On Thursday, April 18th, over 50 students come together on the OUCRL patio and lawn to work together in service and solidarity. These coolers were filled with assorted non-perishable foods, toiletries, and necessities that are being donated to the Nashville YWCA, The Contributor, and Open Table to be distributed to those in need. With an overwhelming response from the Vanderbilt Greek community, more coolers than could be filled were donated to the cause. The first of an annual event, these coolers will serve as not only packaging for the donations, but also as a great item that can be used for many purposes. Students of all years, affiliation and interest came out for a great event.
