Vanderbilt Phenocam goes live

Posted by on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 in News.

The Phenocam at Vanderbilt monitors changes in tree canopy greenness and updates at thirty-minute intervals. The footage will provide researchers in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences with permanent continuous data on the vegetation dynamics on campus under climate change.

The Vanderbilt site is part of the PhenoCam Network, a cooperative network of more than 700 sites that archives and distributes imagery from digital cameras deployed at research sites across North America and around the world. The greenness index is extracted from the photos and can be used for climate and environmental science research, teaching and outreach. All data are open-access.
