Community Relations Coordinator

Casey GymrekCasey Gymrek serves as the community relations coordinator for the Community Relations team. Gymrek joined Vanderbilt in November of 2023. As coordinator, she is responsible for managing communications and supporting the Community Relations team in outreach and partnership efforts between the university and local community-based organizations.

Fueled by a passion for community service and a deep understanding of historical contexts, Gymrek relies on her background as a public historian to nurture meaningful connections and learning opportunities for all. Before coming to Vanderbilt, she worked with the Tennessee Sectary of State at the Tennessee State Library and Archives. Gymrek served as the Education Outreach Archivist working for K-16 educators, students and local communities throughout Tennessee’s 95 counties. Additionally, she worked for several nonprofits in both education and outreach roles including the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the Albert Gore Research Center and the Coding School.

Originally from Florida, Gymrek earned a bachelor’s degree in history and anthropology from the University of Florida. She also holds a master’s degree in public history from Middle Tennessee State University and a master of business administration from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.

Gymrek serves on the boards of the Inter-Museum Council of Nashville, Friends of Two Rivers Mansion and Nashville Queer History.
