Congratulations to J. Jackson Resser on his promotion to senior biostatistician at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, effective December 1. Mr. Resser earned his Bachelor of Science in biology (with a minor in applied statistics) at Western Kentucky University, serving as primary data analyst for WKU's Bingocize health promotion program during his time in Bowling Green. His undergraduate honors thesis was "Landscape Genetics of Salamander Populations at Mammoth Cave National Park."
He then joined Vanderbilt's graduate program in biostatistics, completing his master's degree in 2022. His thesis, "Prediction of disease severity in Jordanian patients with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in the presence of missingness," proposed a risk index to estimate patient probability of experiencing a major medical intervention and/or event in conjunction with their medical history and other covariate information. His advisor was now-associate professor Andrew Spieker, with assistant professor Amir Asiaee providing second-reader support.
As a team scientist at Vanderbilt, Mr. Resser reports to associate professor Dandan Liu. He is a member of the Vanderbilt Biostatistics Data Coordinating Center's Design & Analysis unit and has co-authored six peer-reviewed publications to date, with more manuscripts in review. The papers in print include:

A former lifeguard and soccer referee, Mr. Resser continues to enjoy following sports from an analytical point of view. We look forward to celebrating future milestones on his infectious disease projects and other collaborations!
