The Division of Government and Community Relations is responsible for the university’s advocacy with all levels of government and for setting advocacy goals and influencing policy. We lead community initiatives and mobilize Vanderbilt’s people and resources in the community in service of others.

The Economic Impact of Vanderbilt

Our latest economic impact report highlights the significant economic benefits that Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center provide to our city, state and region. Together, our institutions made a $22.13 billion economic impact in 2024, and generated 120,000 jobs.

Vanderbilt's Impact in Your District

Our District Impact Report provides an interactive dashboard that illustrates the university’s contributions to each of Tennessee’s state House and Senate districts, as well as the state’s congressional districts. Viewers can see district-level data on employment, financial aid, community engagement, alumni presence, educational opportunities for K-12 students and more.
