Sara Barron
Women’s Cross Country
Major: Interdisciplinary: Music, Management and Marking

Why did you choose to attend Vanderbilt?
I chose Vanderbilt because of its combination of great academics, location in a musical and creative city, and of course, its awesome cross country team.

What are your career goals?
I aim to work in advertising at a media company and eventually create my own business with my best friend and teammate, Vanessa Valentine.

What does it take to be academically successful at Vanderbilt?
Time management, discipline, and balance are the keys to academic success at Vanderbilt. Dedicating time to relax and unwind is just as important as dedicating time to your studies!

How do you manage your demanding schedule?
I manage my schedule by planning out my days carefully and knowing when procrastination is just not going to work.

What is your ritual before taking a test?
My ritual before taking a test is drinking a lot of iced coffee and having a big breakfast so I’m not hungry during the test.

What is your favorite quote?
“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
