In this program, facilitated by IFSA-Butler, students enroll directly in the University of New South Wales, known as "Australia's most international campus," and ranked as one of the best universities in Australia. There are thousands of courses available to choose from in a variety of disciplines. Students live in on-campus and off-campus student apartments. While living in Sydney, students experience the diversity and vibrancy that the city has to offer via an excellent public transportation systems. UNSW is within walking distance to some of Sydney's beautiful beaches, like the popular Coogee Beach.

Vanderbilt students are required to participate in this program based on the official program dates listed on IFSA’s website. Students who study abroad at IFSA UNSW during the Spring term must attend the January session starting in early January. Vanderbilt’s policy supersedes IFSA’s guidelines. Students may not enroll in courses that are delivered in any remote or multimodal/hybrid capacity. Vanderbilt requires students to only enroll in courses that are delivered in-person.

For students interested in independent housing for this program, please note it is student's responsibility to secure housing, and requests for independent housing MUST first be approved by IFSA. Once IFSA has approved the request for independent housing, students must then complete the Vanderbilt Housing Policy Waiver form, which will be provided by your Vanderbilt Study Abroad Advisor upon request. The IFSA housing fee will still be billed to all Vanderbilt study abroad participants, regardless of the decision to opt into independent housing. Once the IFSA invoice is received, students will receive a credit for the IFSA housing fee originally billed through the Vanderbilt portal. Please also note that this process will not be automatic, and the reimbursement may take time to be calculated and processed.
