On this program, students will discover the different perspectives, challenges, and needs of diverse populations in London and Kingston with a once-in-a-lifetime community-based learning opportunity. Geared towards students studying public health, students will gain an understanding of how the British health care system operates by taking courses at Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL). Learn about the Jamaican community in London so you can compare their health care with those in Jamaica when you spend time at the University of West Indies School of Nursing in Mona, Jamaica. Everything you do will be a part of your immersive learning experience.

Students are required to take:

  • One Health Studies course taught by IES Abroad London faculty,
  • One Health course taught at the School of Health Sciences at City, University of London or at the School of Global Health at Queen Mary, University of London
  • One intensive 6-credit Social Welfare Policy course with a required community-based learning placement in London and in Kingston at the University of the West Indies School of Nursing, Mona
  • One elective course from the Study London Program


During the final 10 days of the term, students will participate in an extended program-related trip to Kingston, Jamaica, hosted by the University of the West Indies School of Nursing, Mona. Learn about the health care issues in a developing economy through lectures, discussions, and observation at community health clinics and local NGOs.
