BCCAC – Tyra Searcy

TYRA SEARCY | AVBA YOUNG ALUMNI REP

Tyra Searcy is from Saint Louis, Missouri. She graduated from Vanderbilt in 2019 with her BA. While at Vanderbilt University, Tyra was able to successfully support Vanderbilt’s NAACP Chapter, curate and market content with Vanderbilt University Television, develop and maintain profitable relationships with The Nashville Symphony, and mentor students with SWAG to College and  Project I Am.

With the support of the T. Howard Foundation, Tyra was given the opportunity to intern with The New York Times in 2018 which turned into a full-time position. She currently works at The New York Times as a Product Support Lead where she uses quantitative and qualitative data to understand and improve the user experience for their products. While at The Times, she is serving on the Steering Committee for Black@NYT and supports diversity and inclusion initiatives around the company. Since her move to New York City, she has begun volunteering with Petey Greene which allows her to tutor incarcerated students on Rikers Island.
