Tell us about your military service. What did you do? Where did you serve? What do you value the most about your military service?

After commissioning from West Point in 2013 I served as a Field Artillery Officer at the 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, NC.
In 2017 I attended Special Forces Assessment and Selection and following completion of the Special Forces Qualification
Course in 2019, I arrived at Ft. Campbell, KY where I served at 5th Special Forces Group for the next four years. During that
time, I deployed twice to the Middle East in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. My time in 5th Special Forces Group was
the most rewarding experience in the military and I am thankful for the honor I had to lead soldiers.

What are your thoughts on mentoring other students while at Vanderbilt? As a role model, what values do you want to share?

I am enthusiastic to mentor and learn from my fellow students while at Vanderbilt. I believe that I can learn as much from
mentoring someone as they can learn from myself. I believe the cornerstone of leadership is building personal relationships
with those you lead one at a time. I cannot wait to meet those that I mentor in the Vanderbilt Community.

While at Vanderbilt, what will be the focus of your studies and how do you plan to use this knowledge in your future career?

While at Owen I plan to concentrate on strategy and finance. I am not sure what function or industry I will work in post
matriculation, but I am confident the tools I learn at Vanderbilt will lead me to success.

What would you tell other veterans about the Bass Military Scholars Program?
