“I hope to use the Bass Military Scholars network to impart the culture of seeking out mentors and not being afraid to ask for advice to the Vanderbilt community.”

Tell us about your military service. What did you do? Where did you serve? What do you value the most about your military service?

I served as a Blackhawk Helicopter Pilot in the Army.  I flew missions across the United States, Central America, South America, and Central Asia.  I most value the opportunities I was provided to work with people across cultures different than my own.

What are your thoughts on mentoring other students while at Vanderbilt? As a role model, what values do you want to share?

I am extremely excited to get to meet with students at Vanderbilt.  Vanderbilt represents such a diverse and talented team.  I hope to share the importance of learning from mistakes and how finding your own personal leadership style is extremely important in being a genuine leader.

While at Vanderbilt, what will be the focus of your studies and how do you plan to use this knowledge in your future career?

I plan to focus on strategy at Vanderbilt.  I hope to channel my experiences in the military combined with my MBA experience at Owen to go to into business consulting after graduation.

What would you tell other veterans about the Bass Military Scholars Program?

The Bass Military Scholars Program is incredible.  The veteran community it provides and the experiences it encourages made my transition out of the military and back to school fluid.  I cannot recommend it enough.
