| Womens Tennis Represented at ITA All-American
Championships 10/10/02
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. Senior Sarah Riske (McMurray,
Pa.) and junior Aleke Tsoubanos (Chesterfield, Mo.) will represent
the Vanderbilt womens tennis team at the Riviera/ITA
All-American Championship, which kicks off Thursday at the
Riviera Tennis Club.
Riske, who is unseeded by ranked No. 9 nationally in the
ITA Preseason Rankings, will have a difficult opening round
match when she takes on SEC rival and No. 12-ranked Lindsay
Dawaf of Florida. The winner of this match will take on the
winner of seventh-seeded Kate Pinchbeck of North Carolina
or Lauren Barnikow of Stanford later that afternoon.
Riske and Tsoubanos will compete in the doubles draw as the
top-seeded team. They will take on No. 13-ranked Karie Schlukebir
and Linda Tran of Indiana. With a win, the Vanderbilt duo
will take on either a qualifying team or Georgias Agata
Cioroch and Lori Grey on Friday.
